Jim Montgomery
Jim Montgomery has educated people on creating wealth for years but more importantly, he practices what he preaches. He is a self-made millionaire. Jim was trained as a lawyer but soon realized that law practice was still selling time by the hour, just at a higher rate. The law practice provided an income through which other investments could be pursued. He was privileged to run a savings and loan association in the 1980’s in Texas as a workout specialist which gave him the financial experience to understand what we do not get taught in school: the time value of money.
He has been and is a business owner in the smoked meat food industry. He learned the value of being able to deliver a product that people consume on a regular basis and want to buy again.
He has advised real estate investors on income producing property and raw land investments. He has been that real estate investor himself and has successfully demonstrated the value of those investments. His home in Breckenridge, Colorado, Stoneybrooke, is an example of those investments.
As a lawyer, his practice is confined to helping people start businesses, manage through corporate planning, and design exit strategies. He has review opportunities and business plans for hundreds of clients. He has been active in the buying and selling of businesses for years and is uniquely qualified to evaluate and suggest businesses that meet certain criteria for success.
Jim and his wife Linda have been married for over ten years. They have a blended family of four children with three daughters and a son. They have five grandchildren, four boys and a girl.
Jim is an Eagle Scout and has served in various leadership positions in the scouting movement at the pack, troop, and district levels. He has been a Rotarian for 25 years, most recently serving as the District Governor for District 5840 in South Central Texas. He is a Past President of his club and is a Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation. He and Linda have also been active with fundraising for the American Cancer Society, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio, and the March of Dimes.
